Scooter Tire Installation
Easier than you might think !

Installation of your new Air Free tires is quick and easy. We recommend that you purchase two bolts that are at least two inches longer than the bolts that came with your hub.

The first thing you will need to do is to make sure that your new tires will indeed fit. Please check for hub compatibility by using our tire sizing section. This section deals with installing a tire on a hub that you already have.

Step1 Measure the diameter and the width of the present tire that you have now and use this a guide to determine which Air Free tire you need. Measure the hub as per the instructions on our sizing page and enter those dimensions into our calculator. Any tires that will fit your hub will be displayed and then you can use the tire diameter and tire width measurements to get the tire you need.

Step 2 Disassemble your hub, remove the old tire and check to make sure that the hub is not cracked or damaged and that the bearings are in good order.

Step 3 Slide the two longer bolts through the hub and tighten as the hub will need to compress the tire for the shorter bolts that came with the hub to fasten properly.

Step 4 Tighten the two long bolts until the two halves of the hub have come together. Insert two of your original bolts and tighten then remove the longer bolts and then insert the two remaining original bolts and firmly tighten. Reinstall your hub as per you vehicle manufacturers instruction.

Tips for easy installation:
  • Purchase or use two long bolts that can fit through the holes in your hub
General Information:
  • Grease your bearings.
  • Inspect your vehicle and hub for wear or damage.
  • Make sure our tires can fit your hub before you purchase them.

Important   slideshow
Scooter tires can only be 'compressed' but so far. Please make sure our tires will fit properly as you must be able to draw the bolts together so tightly as to prevent the tire from spinning around inside the hub. If your hub is too wide or too thin, the tire won't be compressed or "sandwiched" the correct amount.

Almost as Important
You don't need any special tools, just long bolts to draw the hub halves together. Our scooter tires (except 12" tires) all must fit split hubs. Please see our sizing section for your options if you have a single piece hub,

One More Thing
Pre-Foam Filled tires and airless tires are exactly the same when it comes to installation. Just put the tire and hub together and bolt. What could be easier?
