Step1 Carefully
uninstall your old tires. The brake cable will more than likely need
to be loosened. Clean around the rim and remove the rubber strip.
Seat the Air Free tire on to and in the rim and tie a stout cord or
cable tie around the tire and the rim. Place the tire and rim on the
ground with tire on the side facing away from you.
Step 2 After making sure the tire and the rim are tightly
bound by the cord or the cable tie, place the slotted end of the
aluminum bar over the axle. Loosen the bolt just enough to allow
free movement of the bar. Position the tool shoe on to the bar and
slide it down the bar until it engages the rim. Check to make sure
that the lip of the mounting shoe is resting in the rims' edge.
Rotate the tool away from you for one quarter the distance around
the tire. At this point resistance will be felt.
Step 3 Once the tire
and rim become engaged and resistance is felt, reaffirm your grip on
the tire and wheel. Smoothly push the bar away from you in small
increments. Repeat this process until the tire snaps in to place. It
is during the last one third of the process that the most resistance
will be felt. Please do not feel compelled to rush this process.
Keep the bar as parallel as possible to the rim.
Step 4 Once the tire
has snapped in to place on the rim, remove the mounting shoe and cut
the cord that held the tire in place. Repeat these steps for the
next tire. Carefully install your wheels back on to the bicycle and
align them properly. Check your brake cables and tighten them. You
should check the spokes for trueness. Installation of the Air Free
tires will not affect the wheels' trueness, however this is a good
opportunity to perform routine maintenance on your bicycle. |
