Open Road Warranty

Important Warranty Information

Thank you for your consideration in choosing the Air Free Open Road tire. Below is our warranty information. Our customer satisfaction guarantee can be found here.

All Air Free Open Road tires will be warranted to be free from defects and the quality of the tire must make you happy. The Open Road Series tires will also be warranted to give you 3,000 miles of trouble free riding.

Please notice that this warranty covers only the number of miles ridden on the tires and not any time limit. Depending on your weight and riding style and the types of terrain you cover, the Open Road should give you thousands of miles of reliable and consistent riding. As with any tire that is ridden certain wear characteristics will exhibit themselves. The wear rate should not exceed 5% of the original height of the tire per 1,000 miles. This means that the Air Free Open Road which is 19mm tall off of the rim would not have a flat spot down the middle in excess of 3mm of the original height of the tire.

The rear tire will take the most abuse and be the one prone to wearing at the fastest rate. You can extend the life of your tires by rotating them every 1,500 miles.

If at any time you feel your tires to be wearing down at a rate inconsistent with what is listed above you may contact us to request a replacement. Please understand that all Air Free tires will exhibit wear and an eventual flattening of the tire is inevitable. This will actually enhance your riding experience by enlarging the area of the tire contacting the road and help to distribute the load across the tire. Theoretically you could ride the tires down to rim as the urethane we use is homogenous and is consistent throughout the tire.

Many people ride the tires for thousands of miles without any noticeable or appreciable wear and other people will report accelerated wear rates and when we inspect the tires and question the customer we find that the heavier the rider is, the faster the wear rate. We based our calculations on of 1mm of wear per 1,000 miles on a 230 lb rider. Higher psi tires will wear at a slower rate.

If for some reason you ordered tires that did not properly fit your rims you may get zapped with a restocking fee of 15% of the purchase price. We would rather replace worn tires for free than refund money for a pair of tires that may have been ordered in haste or without full knowledge that the tires ordered had a decent chance of fitting the rims. Airless tires cannot be inflated until they fit and there is no such thing as a standard rim. Please take your time when choosing tires and utilize our sizing section. If you use our sizing section and order tires that do not fit then we have made a mistake and will take the tires back. Of course we will have to take your word on this.
