Q: How do I know which Open Road
will fit my bike?
A. You can use our rim
database if you know the make and model of your rims or
you can measure your rim and use our sizing
calculator. Please don't use the measurements of your
current pneumatic tires to select an Air Free as any rubber
tire can be inflated to fit and ours require that a portion of
snap snuggly into the rim and not all rims are the same size.
Q: Are the Open Roads as
good as the tires I have on my bike?
A. If you have been using a Primo Comet or an IRC
Roadlite or similar tire, then you probably will not notice
any difference. We made the Open Roads to effectively mimic
the high quality pneumatic tires between 32 and 40mm wide that
are found on the distance and speed bikes, whether they be
Recumbent or Uprights.
Q: Why are only a few
tires listed?
A. We have plans to bring out 8 new Open Road tires. If
you only see one or two or a few listed, then it is because we
haven't finished making all of the molds yet.
Q: What if I have two
different rims?
A. Measure both rims or use the rim
database and get two tires to fit. If we don't have a tire
to fit then please let us know by emailing us the details. Q: I like a wider tire
and the Open Roads may too thin for me?
A. This may be true. If you like wider tires then the Open
Road may be too thin. We understand the diversity of the
rubber tire market and its' infinite choices and we realize
that we may not have a tire for every application or taste.
However because of the flattened profile of the Open Road, it
is the 1.35 tire that acts like a 1.75 as it has a whopping
12mm wide contact patch. Give them a try. Q: I ride 5,000 miles a
year, are the Open Roads going to last?
A. The denser the tire is the longer it will last. We want the
tire to last for 5,000 miles and have created a warranty that
works for you. Please check out the Open
Road warranty page.
Q: Can I get the Open
Customized to the psi equivalency that I want?
A. Please see the Open Road Customization
Options page.
Q:
Are the Open Roads any different to install?
A. The Open Road tire can be installed just like any of our
other tires. Our original installation tool for $14.95 will do
the trick easily. Since the Open Roads are thinner they can
stretch a little easier but on the flip side, they are 7%
smaller diameter than the rim instead of 4% like the Legacy
collection. We are working on a new tool that may be less
expensive for us to make and you to purchase and when the tool
is ready, we will make it available as an option. In the
meantime, we do recommend the tool and you can always send it
back for a full credit on the purchase price.
